Release of the AKIHO Honbuten Book
AKIHO Honbuten provides an inside look at the 134th AKIHO Headquarters Exhibition. Spread over 110 pages, it features a beautiful collection of full color pictures, added with extra background info on AKIHO and the show itself, as well as a special interview with AKIHO’s new chairman Endou Takashi, who also wrote a foreword for the book.
Nowadays, most Honbuten pictures are viewed online in a highly compressed matter. Instead of watching these gorgeous Akita Inu on a tiny mobile phone screen, we thought Japan’s most important Akita event deserved a better experience. And so the idea for the first English book dedicated to AKIHO Honbuten was born.
Dressed in a dust jacket that covers sophisticated charcoal linen, the Limited Edition is a 21 x 26 cm sized hardcover coffee table book. Added with tissue backing for increased durability, the inside is printed on archival-quality paper, which has a superfine eggshell-textured uncoated finish. Together with matching charcoal end-sheets, the Limited Edition has turned into a premium product worth keeping.
Then there is the Standard Edition. Its contents are exactly the same, while coming in a softcover and smaller sized form (15 x 23 cm) and without the high-end paper.
As both editions are part of a fundraiser, no profit will be made. Alternately, all proceeds will be donated to Kumamoto Disaster Relief Fund.
